So…What’s the Catch?
Unfortunately, only one in three homes in New Jersey qualifies for the No-Cost Solar Program. Each application must be approved by three entities: the State of New Jersey, your utility provider, and your local municipality. If any of these parties deny the application, the project cannot proceed.
Before any application is submitted, the home must meet these requirements.
Roof Direction – The roof must receive sufficient sunlight throughout the year to qualify.
Roof Condition – The roof must be structurally sound to support solar panels. (If the project is fully approved, a new roof can be included at no cost.)
Energy Usage – Your home must consume a minimum amount of kilowatt-hours annually to be eligible.
Shading & Obstructions – There should be no significant obstructions, such as large trees, that could reduce sunlight exposure. (Tree removal can be included at no cost if the project is fully approved.)
Guaranteed Savings – The system must demonstrate cost savings; otherwise, the application cannot be submitted.
